Kid Chef Eliana grew up in a family of cooks. With grandparents from Cajun Louisiana, the Philippines, Cuba, and Honduras, Eliana’s recipes have International flair. She loves traveling and spending time in the kitchen with her family. Eliana says, “Cooking is so much fun. You can be creative and invent new recipes.”
At ten years old, Kid Chef Eliana was chosen as one of thirteen Latinos profiled in a museum exhibit at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans. She is a featured kid chef on ZisBoomBah.com, a national Web site for kid foodies. She has cooked with celebrity Chef John Besh and has been a featured chef at many festivals, including the New Orleans Seafood Festival, the Louisiana Book Festival, and the French Market Creole Tomato Festival.
Kid Chef Eliana’s mission is to educate kids and inspire them to explore new foods because good food is more than chicken nuggets and French fries. Her motto is “Cool kids cook and get creative in the kitchen!”

Kid Chef Eliana is the youngest person ever named a 40 Under 40 mover and shaker by Gambit and is one of the 10 Most Famous Kid Critics and Cooks in the world, according to the Daily Meal and Fox News. She has a global weekly radio show called Cool Kids Cook on the VoiceAmerica Kids network, part of the VoiceAmerica network with more than 4.6 million monthly listeners. Eliana was a competitor in Superchef Kids, a national cooking competition webisode series produced by the creators of Iron Chef®, sponsored by Bounty® paper towels, and hosted by Carla Hall of ABC’s The Chew. She has appeared on national television shows, including The Wendy Williams Show.
Her mom and co-author, Dianne de Las Casas, is an award-winning author of many titles including The Cajun Cornbread Boy, a storyteller, and the founder of Picture Book Month.
Soleil Lisette, Eliana’s big sister, is a talented graphic artist who has illustrated several books.
About the Author
Kid Chef Eliana won a 2013 Parents’ Choice Approved award from the Parents’ Choice Foundation for her first cookbook, Cool Kids Cook: Louisiana. The teen author hosts a weekly radio show on VoiceAmerica. She has shared the cooking stage with Chef John Besh, filmed with Chef Aaron Sanchez and Chef Carla Hall, and appeared on the Wendy Williams Show. Guests on her radio show include some of the top chefs in the nation. A 2013 recipient of Gambit’s 40 Under 40 award, Eliana has a full plate of appearances and cooking demos along with teaching a Young Chefs Rock! culinary camp through the Louisiana Children’s Museum in New Orleans. She lives at with her family in Harvey, Louisiana.
Dianne de Las Casas is an award-winning author, storyteller, recording artist, and founder of the celebrated November Is Picture Book Month initiative. She hunts and pecks a good story everywhere she goes. Her work has earned rave reviews from School Library Journal, Booklist, and Kirkus. She performs worldwide at schools, conferences, and special events and is the author of many picture books with Pelican, including Mama’s Bayou, The House That Witchy Built, and Blue Frog: The Legend of Chocolate. She lives with her family in Harvey, Louisiana.
Soleil Lisette is Eliana’s big sister. She is a talented graphic artist and enjoys working with her sister and mother both in and out of the kitchen.
