Hey Young Chefs!
On Day 6, we went to Union Square Greenmarket, Strand Bookstore, and the Highline.
First, we shopped at Union Square Greenmarket. Everything at the Greenmarket is so fresh that it still has dirt on the produce. I bought all kinds of vegetables for that nights’ dinner. I even got to taste fresh chèvre from Lynnhaven. Ms. Lynn’s chèvre was awesome! We had to buy some.
We were at the Greenmarket for a long time and it was lunchtime. We ate from a Peruvian food truck. I had Anticucho which is veal hearts with GIGANTIC Peruvian corn and potatoes. It’s delicious!
Secondly, we went to Strand Bookstore. It has four levels. One level is the basement. This bookstore has 18 miles of books! That’s a lot of books.
Thirdly, we walked the Highline. The Highline used to be a railroad track. Now, it’s a place to stroll in the sunset. It overlooks the Hudson River.
Finally, it was time to make dinner. For dinner, I made fried squash blossoms stuffed with a mixture of marscapone, honey, and lemon thyme, roasted beets and leeks, and chicken and rainbow fingerling potatoes with a sage tomato cream sauce. We had an exhausting but delightful day.
